How do I know I'm an Empath?

Depressed Empath by Anneli RufusOne of the most common things I see, when people e-mail me for advice is: Am I really an Empath?

They have looked at all the signs and can relate too many of them. They don’t always fit all the traits of an Empath. There are very few who do. However, they certainly fit many of the major ones, including being told that they are just too over sensitive or highly emotional.

HSP or Highly Sensitive Person is a signature trait of being an Empath.  It means that you react with a heightened sense to everything that is going on around you.

If something bad happens, your reaction will seem to be over the top to others.

It might be something along the lines of having a bad day at work. You believe you’ve made an error and now you feel very guilty about it.

Maybe someone reacted in a way to something you said or did that you didn’t think was positive and you feel bad or even guilty about how you made them feel.

Perhaps a partner or a friend is having a hard time and you can’t enjoy yourself around them because they don’t feel happy. You feel obliged to make yourself miserable so you can empathise with them.

You might even be cautious or afraid to let others know your true feelings because you don’t want to come across as uncaring or indifferent. You will make yourself feel unhappy because that seems to be your best option.

The Empath will feel obligated in some sense to react in a way that allows others to see that they are not alone and they have support.

This is generally unhealthy for all parties concerned because it simply feeds the negative energy rather than healing or helping anything.

As I said, it’s common for an Empath to be highly sensitive.  They take on the pain and discomfort of others around them, no matter if it’s human or animal or even plant.

Generally, if you ask yourself if you’re really an Empath, the very act of asking is a good indicator that you are. Non empathic people won’t ask and won’t even care. They will dismiss it out of hand.

Chances are high that if you ask the question, you are an Empath.

Cell Phones

Sharing an experience?

Ever sat down to watch a TV show with friends, maybe play a game, watch a movie, go out for dinner or do some other activity with them?

Let’s say it’s a movie you wanted to see with a friend. You both start to watch it, but then you notice your friend is on their phone, reading e-mail, playing their own game or focused on something else.

Next thing you know,  you find that you have lost focus on plot of the movie itself.

You may try in vain to retain the focus on what is happening, but it’s hard. You being to experience that sinking feeling that you can’t quite place or understand. A sensation that many Empaths tend to have.

You can only half focus on what is going on because your attention is split. You might even end up taking out your own phone and check it, too.

So, what is really happening here?

As an Empath, you are always connecting in some way, on some level, with your friends or family. You do this, not only to keep tabs on how they are feeling, but to know if something major is suddenly up.  More often than not, it’s not an intentional or conscious act.

So when their focus is on something else, you will feel a pull from your shared activity. It will be like a giant, invisible magnet that draws your attention away.

On a subconscious level, you may also be feeling things such as:

  • Am I that boring that you need other distractions?
  • If you’re not into this, I feel bad for making you be here.
  • It’s clear you would rather be doing something else.
  • Did I do something wrong?

Half the enjoyment for an Empath is sharing experiences. If the other person is not fully there, then that enjoyment can be severely depleted.

While you can refocus on the movie, you won’t gain the same enjoyment from it, nor will you walk away feeling all that great.

Sadly, with today’s addictive technology, the problem is even greater as few people can go very long without looking at their mobile devices to check their e-mail, play that game that regenerates lives every 30 minutes or see what is going on in Facebook, or whatever social media they are part of.

So what can be done?

So, what can you do about this type of situation?

Well, it depends on what you are hoping to get from it to begin with.

If it’s something you wish to share with a friend, then it may be worth telling them that. Also both agree to have a ‘no distractions’ rule and put away your phones for that period.

If you both feel the need to check them, then agree on a time for a break so you can do so, and then return to the activity.

This is just one example but it can applied to many other things.

It might be like the mother who is always cleaning and never has time to sit down with their family and watch TV.

Or when everyone else is eating at the dinner table, and the one who did the cooking is still running around, doing all the little things while saying to being eating.

Feel free to share your own thoughts and experiences on this subject.

Shared experiences are wonderful for Empaths. In my opinion, they are better than presents.

Let’s make the most of them.

What if we sent love instead of anger to our leaders…?There is so much negative emotion in this world. It manifests in all areas of our life.

I don’t need you to believe me. Just observe and decide for yourself.

Fear, hate, resentment, anger, retribution, revenge, intolerance, blame…

All those emotions are our energy.

This is the energy that is abundant in our world and it’s getting worse.

Are we justified in feeling this way?

I believe so.

Does it help?

We may feel better right now and it may even bring closure, but history has shown that nothing changes. Even though quality of life for many has vastly improved, those feelings still remain and as we become more connected, they may even grow as we perceive many more injustices through our net enabled world.

These emotions end up collecting and pooling into something much bigger till it becomes something enormous. Like attracts like. When enough collects, it always… always manifests itself, and we experience devastating outcomes.

For things to change, we need to change our mindset.

What if we choose to send thoughts of love, wisdom and compassion to all who we feel have wronged us? What if we worked to awaken our leaders and those who wish us harm?

It may  be the hardest thing we could ever do. To not only forgive them for their blindness but to bless instead of curse them.

If we continue down this path, we will get more of the same.

You may feel that they don’t deserve redemption. That they must pay for what they have done. And I can’t blame you for feeling that way. I would be a hypocrite to say I’ve not felt the same way.

But until we shift that energy to love, we will all continue to experience negative outcomes. Nothing is going to get better until we do.

At this point in our history, many are awakening. But awakening does not automatically mean love. It is a choice. It’s always a choice.

I, myself, feel the frustration and anger. Like many, I would love to tear down the systems and make them pay.

But it’s not who I really am.

I need to choose love and hope that by doing so, it will help heal not only others, but all that is wrong in this world.  I know it won’t be easy. It will be hard at times. There will be days when I just need to vent. It’s where I return to that is important.

I’m okay with that.

I will choose love.

Join me.

Please.

darkest before the dawnThe Dark Night of the Soul is a purging of old energies and beliefs. It is particularly painful because we are trying to live in the way we believe we should be doing though that is no longer working. Things just seem to fall apart.

Having gone through it, I found that there was one tool that really helped me at the time.

If embracing a new belief system is the key to moving forward, then we need to know what our current one is.

What I did was write down everything I believed about my life. I didn’t think it out; I just wrote what came to mind and let the words pour from me.

When I read it back, I found it was 90% negative. My reality was fulfilling my expectations of it.

I also realized that over the years, the frustrations and anger at my failures had grown to such a point that I couldn’t be positive anymore. This was part of the purging of the darkness and yes, it was painful.

So I sat down and decided what I wanted for a new reality. One that was positive, full of light and one worth living for.

I started with a proclamation of who I was. This might seem cheesy or vain, but really, what you are doing is addressing the universe or God or whatever your belief happens to be.

You are saying: This is who I am, and this is how it will be from now on.

Then I wrote down all the things I wanted to see in my new reality.

If I felt that life was a bitch and I couldn’t win, I changed it to: I can’t lose, no matter what I do.

If I felt that I would never have success in a relationship, I changed it to: The perfect relationship is coming for me and I am ready.

Basically, words to those effects.

I ended with: This reality is happening now. So be it.

Think carefully about what you write because what you write down is what you are asking to call forth.

Once I had written about a dozen new affirmations, I printed it out, folded the page and carried it around with me.

For the first few weeks, I read it every chance I could. Whether it was at home, on public transport or when it popped into my mind.

I read it out loud to myself. I read it as though I truly believed it. I read it with conviction. I poured all my energy into it. Whether I believed it or not was not important. I knew that if I said it enough, it would manifest.

After a few weeks, I forgot about doing it and it slipped my mind.

Then a few months went by and I suddenly realized that things were different. I did not know when they changed or how they changed. I just knew that I was living my new reality and the strangest part was that it felt like things had always been that way.

Here are some tips for creating your new reality.

Whatever you do, do it from a place of love, not fear. What you are looking to do is shift your energies to a point where good things are happening to you and it’s a win / win for everyone. This is very hard to do because our natural tendency is to hang onto what we know and what we have.

Also, though I did not have them at the time, Bach Flower Remedies are a tremendous help.

The ones that will really aid you here are:

Sweet Chestnut – This is the remedy for the Dark Night of the Soul. It helps you to let go of what you feel is true and embrace your new belief system.

Willow – One of the things that we experience during this period is feeling like we are a victim and we carry the bitterness of our situation around within us. Willow is the remedy that helps you to shift from that energy. It compliments Sweet Chestnut nicely.

Gorse – When you feel you’ve tried everything, and nothing else is going to work, this is the remedy that will give you hope again. The Dark Night of the Soul is all about feeling that nothing you’ve tried is working and you’re all out of ideas.

Gentian – When you see no hope and no future, the remedy Gentian is brings reassurance and comfort to you. It helps you feel that all will be well in the end.

Walnut – While Sweet Chestnut is the remedy for changes within, Walnut is the remedy for changes without. It is the link breaker and it also helps you to cope with all those changes that are going on without breaking you.

Cerato – If you’re unsure what to create for your new belief system, this will help clarify your intuition.

Wild Oats – This remedy helps you know what path you should be on. If you are creating a new belief system, then knowing what direction  you need to head in is of great benefit. Wild Oats will certainly help there.

Endless Body Incarnation.

Dark Night of the SoulThe dark night of the soul, as it is called, is a very traumatic and severe type of depression.  It feels like your entire world is coming apart. Whatever hope you once held has been lost and all you can do it hang on for dear life, and try and survive.

These are the signs

  • You feel there is no hope. You’ve tried everything and nothing has worked.
  • There is no yesterday no tomorrow, just a desperate and empty now of desolation and anguish.
  • The emotional pain is overwhelming.
  • You feel pushed way beyond your limits of endurance to the point of breaking.
  • You feel all that you believe in is coming apart.

No matter what you do, you are overwhelmed by waves of negativity, even when you are trying to be positive.

This is a terrible state of depression.  There are no obvious solutions and chances are those around you will not understand what you are feeling, because you can’t explain it to them. Some may even choose to take offence and make it about themselves.

I remember when I hit this stage. I found the people around me had varying reactions to me.

Many were oblivious that I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. A couple asked me what was wrong and tried to help, but I truly felt there was no hope left, so they stopped trying after a couple of days. One took offense and made it a reason to have a vendetta against me, even long after the event passed. One chose to use this information against me when I confided in him.One first denied I was having any issues, and then used it was an opportunity to talk about themselves.

I had a mixed response to my dark night, but regardless, while I was in it, I didn’t feel anyone could help.

The dark night of the soul is something you can’t understand, not really, unless you’ve been through it.
But what is really going on? Why do we arrive at such a point?

What is happening is that this is our last, desperate attempt to hang onto a belief system that no longer serves us. One that has ceased to work for us for a while now, but we refuse to acknowledge it.

We hang on with all our might to what we believe should be, but really, we need to let go, and embrace a new line reality.
There are many old belief systems that might no longer be valid for us.

This could be in regards to a relationship that needs to end.

Maybe it’s time to change your lifestyle or belief system. In my particular case, I believed that I would never be loved, have a partner or find someone and I was destined to always be alone.

Today, such thoughts seem inane to me, but at the time it seemed like a very real concern. I felt I had tried everything, and everything had failed on all levels.
I was stuck in a set of beliefs that no longer were relevant to the direction I had to go. Until I was prepared to accept something greater, I would be unable to move on. However, I was so convinced I had worked it all out that I was no longer allowing growth to continue.

The dark night of the soul is actually a blessing in disguise. It heralds the start of new spiritual growth. Some say it is the doorway to true spiritual growth.
A new way. A new start. It means that it’s time to let the past go, and accept that there are things you do not know, and let new ideas come into your life.

It’s a purging. It’s a breaking of energies. And that’s what makes it so painful.

This was just before I was introduced to the Bach Flower Remedies, and so I had to get through this alone. When I finally emerged, I found that I had new hope, and things were shifting and my life was never going to be the same.

Remember, at its most extreme, Yin will become Yang (and visa versa). They say it is darkest before the dawn, and this is true.

If you are experiencing your own dark night, know that things will get better and it may herald a much greater and amazing journey.

Bach Flower Remedy:

Sweet Chestnut is the remedy for this state. It allows you to embrace a new belief system, and let go of the old one, without breaking you.

It works well with Walnut, which is the remedy for change.

StarsedI remember speaking to a lady back in the year 2000 in a chatroom that I frequented at the time. She was often prone to high drama and loved the attention focused on her. During one of my very few chat with her, she proclaimed that she was a starseed, as though that explained everything. Actually, it was the first time I heard that term and, to me, felt like a way to make herself both a victim and more special than everyone else around her.

Still, like the term ‘otherkin’, it stuck in my mind, though it took me the best part of a decade to get around to looking into what it was.

In a nutshell, a Starseed is someone who is not from here. They are what you would call an alien or extraterrestrial in a human body.

While it’s possible to be both Starseed and Otherkin, it’s also possible to only be one but not the other.

Personally, from what I can find, the word ‘seed’ in ‘Starseed’ is a little misleading. The implications are that it seems like they are being seeded among us by other races. Unless I’m missing something, the word sounds catchy but really doesn’t describe what it actually means.

From what I know, most Starseeds are here by choice. They have some mission or agenda that they desire to fulfill on this planet, whether it be to help this world, hinder it or just experience life in a human body.

Starseeds are almost always classed as Otherkin because most beings originated elsewhere. By that I mean, they are not only from another galaxy but from another dimension. Entire civilizations exist on what we term the astral levels.

While this is a fact, it’s also not possible to prove. I only know by personal experiences and the beings I have met during this life’s journey. The rules in the astral are very different to those here on Earth as the denizens are not hampered by a body or the physics of the third dimension.

If you’ve ever felt that you don’t belong here, that home was elsewhere or you look up longingly at the stars, chances are that you are a Starseed.

Starseeds have been here a very long time. Well before the days of Atlantis. (And yes, that really did exist.)

The original Fae were Starseeds and they came here, along with other types of beings, to merge with the life on this world and experience the third dimension. Many of them were the original Hindu gods who were more the protector of the planet than something that demanded to be worshipped, as the later gods did.

If you’re feeling like you’re an alien, you being a Starseed might be the explanation you’ve been looking for.

Phoenix- against all odds..... by Steve Jurvetson I remember when I first came across this term. It was around 2003 and it sounded strangely alluring. I had no clue what it meant but as time went on, I learned more and more about it.

In a nutshell, an Otherkin is a non-human spirit in a human body.

But what does that mean exactly? What is non-human? What qualifies for being human?

For me, that’s hard to quantify. I can look at someone and think: He or she is a human. It’s the lack of otherkin energy or the sense of being ‘ordinary’ that makes me feel that about that person.  But that’s only in relativity to an Otherkin.

I’m sure the question most would have is: Are Otherkin real?

On that point, I am clear about. Yes, they are. I can generally spot them a mile off and they seem to be around in surprising abundance.

So what type of being would pass for being Otherkin?

To answer this, we first need to address that many mythical beings in our history books are actually real. They just exist on a different vibrational level (often referred to as the astral world).

I think the best way I can explain is like this.

The soul is not a representation of the body. I believe that it is the other way around.

The shape, the look, the form and what radiates are reflections of that soul’s aspects. It is reflecting the energy contained within.

Beings such as dragons, phoenixes, or even dogs and cats are just labels. They are names for the manifestation of energy we can see.

On the astral levels, this is way more obvious as beings have a light-body rather than the physical shell we tend to call our bodies. The shape and color of the light-body represents what kind of being and energy it is.

For example, a dragon would take on a particular shape that not only defines what it looks like, but also reflects its nature and what it can do.

If it looks menacing and powerful, it’s because it’s a reflection of the soul and energy within.

The colors can tell you a lot as they represent various vibrations.

Each one has its own properties. In general, though, the lighter, clearer and brighter the color, the higher and more spiritual the soul is.

Because the light-bodies have no constraints, they will take the shape they represent quite naturally, though that can be sometimes augmented with glamor and the ability to change what size they are.

Now, when such a being takes on a human body, naturally the body does not take on the shape of the being. But certain features, such as presence, voice, eyes, build and charisma will most certainly manifest.  It’s especially apparent in the shape of the face.

Once I recognize a being, it’s hard for me not to see it every time I meet it in another body.

There are many different types of beings out there. If they were in mythology, chances are you will find them existing in the astral levels and in all likelihood, being born to a human body.

Some examples are:

Dragons: – Many types of dragons exist. They were way more prolific thousands of years ago but they are still around in abundance today.

Phoenii:  - They are not as rare as one may have been led to believe. Or maybe that’s just me. I’ve met many a phoenix in my life. Most seem to be drawn to me.

Fae: – Known as nature spirits or fairies, there are hundreds of different types and classes. Seems like every third or so person I meet is a kind of fae. Many are connected to The Gaia. (Which is the spirit of this world or known as Mother Nature.) Most Fae can be a little psychotic or crazy at times. I put that down to the trauma of the land and the attempted genocide of their race over the past several thousand years.

Mer-people: - Generally associated with the so called mythical land of Lemuria. They have a love for water and often feel a strong connection to Dolphins. They are said to originate from the water planet that is also called Lemuria.

Unicorns:- Personally, I’ve come to the conclusion that this is a representation of angelic energy. Angels can be classed as otherkin even though it is said that human have angelic DNA in them.

Lyrans:- The race of cats (or cat people).  They can take on the forms of lions, panthers, house cats, and so on. I’ve known a few. Can’t say I’ve liked too many of them.

Wolves:- This could probably go into the class of furries, though they are a class in their own right.

These are just some examples. I chose some well-known ones but you can be assured that there are many that are more obscure but still pretty common.

That might be an entry for another time.

ghosts in the hall- by Rachel TitrigaThe following is written by a being we referred to as Omen. He wrote a series of blogs for me and this is one of those pieces. Generally, he was considered by those who knew him to be a demonic and not a human, but a entity in possession of a human body. (Though not a possession.)

Gary asked me to write about what humans apparently call ghosts. He said that most don’t believe they exist and at the time I thought to myself ‘I wish they didn’t’ as they are more of an annoyance to me than living humans to say the least and then took the liberty to complain at length about it…anyhow I was surprised they apparently don’t exist, however apparently we don’t exist either so I should not be surprised. However boring this is for me as its like the equivalent of me giving a sex education talk as its just things that you’ll all find out regardless and it can’t be fully portrayed to you because experiencing it and knowing about it are two entirely different things…Gary insists it’s interesting and would be of value so here we are.

We simply call your ghosts ‘the human deceased’ or ‘deaders’ (while in comparison living humans are ‘breathers’.) They are as their namesake denotes, humans who have died and are not flesh anymore, however we do not consider them to be legitimate spirits, but I will get to that point further on.

So, if they are dead but they are still present, where are they? They exist on a pseudo-physical layer of reality, one that is closest to the physical world itself yet far away from the spirit world, and they are limited to that particular ‘vicinity’ (not that there is any kind of mass or legitimate space or distance in physical terms there.) This doesn’t mean they are trapped or in ‘limbo’ or ‘purgatory’ as you religious ones might say, they simply don’t know there is more outside of where they reside and so they simply don’t try to move further away from the physical world as there is just not context for travel or awareness within them. Yes, it can happen in some rare cases and some human spirits go on to become ‘fully fledged’ and aware as we say, but that is another topic altogether.

Although I have said I wouldn’t talk about the afterlife I have realized that I can’t separate afterlife processes from the entire notion of your ghosts, as the latter is a product of the former. I will put most of the following into a personal context because writing ‘you’ instead of ‘they/human’ is just convenient.

When you become dead your consciousness remains intact and this is the same consciousness that was once driven or ordered by human biological processes within the body and mind. This identity and thoughts and such are like (and I’m being very descriptive here, not literal) an all-encompassing layer smothering whatever was already present beneath it (assuming there are prior experiences outside the body) and suppressing or overwhelming these prior aspects of your consciousness. To reiterate, this layer would be comprised of the way you are forced to behave via being attached to a physical body, it is existential conditioning at its best and it all gets carried over mentally after the body is shed. As a ghost you would appear as an echo of your physical state of being, everything from the shape your energy forms to mimic your prior body, to your mannerisms and the way you try to interact and even to the way your mind tries to perceive the world as though it is in-fact physical, is simply a reaction to this carrying over of mental data from your body’s physical processes to yourself.

So this layer comprised of physical processes is then overlaid with your current self, which is not physical anymore and this creates a kind of pseudo-spiritual identity that is neither wholly attached to the physical world, and not yet a part of the afterlife and/or spirit world either. This pseudo-spiritual identity is what creates your limited awareness as a ghost. This is what defines being a ghost.

There are processes or stages to being a ghost, it is like any other growth cycle you might have. I’ll list the general order of processes, of course every individual is different…but just as you might recognize the stages of grief and everyone might express it in altered ways, there is still a recognized process of grieving to complete and so there is also a recognized process of being a ghost to complete as well.

The how-to ghost process (based on my observations)

Finish dying and cross over

Even when the body is clinically dead your consciousness is still attached to it, the brain takes longer than the body to fade and as long as there is still oxygen in the brain it will keep operating up until it’s all used up and after that point your consciousness becomes dormant overall. The ‘cross over’ of data from physical to mental to metaphysical takes hours, you don’t regain awareness until it’s complete. During this time you can and do dream, these dreams are often called the ‘last sleep’ as from that point onward you will not be capable or reaching that mode of awareness again. Dreaming only occurs when there is a distinction between awake and asleep, and as a ghost you will not have such a thing.

Wake up and smell the roses

When you do ‘wake up’ this will be in your body’s vicinity, but you will be separate to it. Depending on the physical conditions you might be able to wander about your own funeral or you might mistakenly think you’ve been buried alive. Your senses will seem no different to how they were when you were alive, you may even ‘breathe’ and have other bodily urges that actually are redundant now. Yes breathing is optional, what a concept. At this point you’ll likely think your still having some weird dream and will not realize you are actually dead.

The realization of being dead can take any amount of time to happen, but generally speaking when you try to see your shadow, your reflection or when you try to interact with anything that is the first tip off to the fact that you’re not in Kansas anymore. Of course, being idiotic most don’t even take that for what it is, instead they often find other ghosts and affiliate with them and enable each other’s denial that their life as they know it is over. Avoiding the truth seems to be a talent of humans both dead and alive.

Time to not forget what just happened

Once you somehow realize you are dead and even if you are in denial of it and trying to convince yourself otherwise, you will get ‘flashbacks’ of your lifetime in the same way living people react to post traumatic stress. Of course it is not always traumatic, it can be wonderful if it is good memories, but my point here is that during these times you are entirely divorced from any reality. You retreat into your mind and work through every morsel of unprocessed data of your life, you try to process it and make sense of it as best you can and come to terms with what matters and what doesn’t. You are reviewing everything.

Time for some bullshit validation of stuff

Once reviewing is done you have a chance to be nostalgic and visit relatives or places or just to wander aimlessly and wonder what you’re supposed to do now. This time is actually so that you can figure out who you are now, but finding out who you are not. It’s not that philosophical, it’s just accepting that reality has changed and so have you. This is your time to ‘let go’ of all of that and invest yourself in yourself, not who you were, not the reality you can’t be a part of and not living people who have probably already come to terms with your death years ago. Time is irrelevant to you now and you have no idea what is even going on in the physical world, you can only see the things that were a part of your original physical experience and there is nothing new for you in the physical world. Your life is now over AND you can’t have another one as you are now, accept it.

This is around the time where most people fuck up and re-attach themselves to the physical world instead of completing this process because for some reason you’re all afraid of what might be beyond the physical world because it makes you realize how vulnerable you really are.

Time to make the right choices or your screwed
There are two paths you can take about now, the most common leads to trying to be a part of the physical world and as it is impossible this inevitably leads to you becoming sick, mentally disturbed, self-destructive, aggressive to others and more than a little insane among other undesirable outcomes. This way of being is obviously not healthy and it takes its toll. If you happen to survive (because you can die again and permanently if you succumb to it) then you will end up on the second path.

Surrender

Surrender is basically when you’re done with everything and you’re ready to completely move on from the physical world, you understand who you are now and how that differs from who you were, you’ve grown, you feel comfortable with yourself and you want to leave...and then you do. You just up and leave. No farewells, you’ve got nothing and no one in the physical world now. It no longer matters. If you reach this point then congratulations or whatever.

Get a life

After this stage is anyone’s guess, I never bothered to stalk anyone that doggedly to find out. I have the vague notion that you can recollect your memories outside of that particular human experience at that point and you get to be a spirit. Depending on how experienced you are beyond being a human, you might be a clueless idiot for a while and I would assume your guides would be there to babysit you because we sure as hell aren’t.

And that completes the process, no more being a ghost for you.

In conclusion.

And now back on subject. As has been stated before, Ghosts are not spirits, they are humans without bodies. As soon as they shed that body they become invisible people with next to no technical abilities to them (meaning they can’t interact physically anymore via any means.) Not to mention they have many metaphysical disadvantages. The distinction between ghost and spirit is vast and complex, so I won’t go into detail, but what I can do is offer a generalized perspective on ghosts from a negative entities perspective.

To us ghosts are seen in the same ways you might view a child or an adolescent (ok well maybe not with all the compassion attached) who has so little scope on reality and on living that they think that their biggest problem in life is that there were no chips left in the cafeteria at lunch time. They are about as melodramatic as you...but just as a teenager begins to figure out that reality hits hard and they need to take responsibility for themselves and not rely on mommy and daddy anymore....these ghosts are in the process of not relying on their body and they are beginning to get some vague idea of the *real* world outside of the physical existence and the challenges such a thing presents.

Their ideas and problems and attitudes may be entirely redundant to us (which they basically always are as it’s naturally in the wrong context,) but we do acknowledge that they are reacting to something real, or part of something real, so at the least they do have the right to ‘be’ (or more so to be in the situation they are in.) We know what to expect of ghosts and treat them with regard to their circumstance (however difficult it may be as they are often disruptive if we have to be in their vicinity) and so we do not treat them as living humans or as spirits.

We avoid ghosts whenever possible and many of us who have the misfortune of dealing with them often have a kind of contempt for them although we rarely express that contempt as it is just not worth trying to even communicate anything to them on our ‘level’ and it is extremely infuriating to mediate how we think and behave and appear to them in order to interact with them as well, so we avoid and tolerate when absolutely necessary.

A related example of such may be that you may have heard stories of ghosts who are blackmailed or harmed or oppressed (or whatever you want to call it) by entities and that they will cry and beg and lament to living humans for help and such. The reality of this circumstance is that it is more than likely they are harassing us and we are at our wits end with having to affiliate with them so we drain their energy to shut them up and/or coral them into smaller and more remote locations and get them ‘out of the way’ so we can get a break and not expend effort on actually getting rid of them entirely.

Surrender

Surrender is basically when you’re done with everything and you’re ready to completely move on from the physical world, you understand who you are now and how that differs from who you were, you’ve grown, you feel comfortable with yourself and you want to leave…and then you do.

They are about as melodramatic as you…but just as a teenager begins to figure out that reality hits hard and they need to take responsibility for themselves and not rely on mommy and daddy anymore….these ghosts are in the process of not relying on their body and they are beginning to get some vague idea of the *real* world outside of the physical existence and the challenges such a thing presents.

Circular - image by Chuck RogersThings are going along nicely for a change. You’ve had a revelation. You’ve reached an epiphany and suddenly things are flow and life is good. It can only get better from here on in.

Then suddenly, without warning, you find yourself back at square one. Things feel just as bad, if not worse, and you fall into despair because you were doing so well… and now you’re not.

That anger that you felt you had gotten past before and has allowed you to move on is back in full force and you even feel angrier than before.

Or it might be some trauma, or fear, or resentment, or lack of self-confidence.

Sound familiar?

What happened?

This is a very common scenario, especially for those on the spiritual path. For them it’s 2 steps forward and 1 step back. It’s very frustrating and most don’t really understand what is going on.

So let’s look at what is really happening.

There will indeed be times when we feel like we’re making headway. We are moving forward so fast and feeling so amazing that we feeling that nothing can stop us.

Then we hit that wall.

Ouch!

Why?

If we’ve faced and conquered our demons, so to speak, then why are they back?

The truth is, you haven’t conquered them fully. You’ve just dealt with one aspect of them. It’s allowed you to reach a new understanding, but there is still more work to do. You may revisit the same thing over and over, each time chipping away at another piece of it until finally you have removed the entire block, and are really ready to move onto new things.

This is normal. It’s not always possible to deal with something in its entirety, especially if it’s deep, long term and part of your belief system.

You have to take it in stages. You have to look at it from different angles, and each stage can feel almost the same, but there are subtle differences.

Or if it is the same, then you’ve not retained what you learned, and you need to have a refresher in what you needed to know.

Life is a process. We can move forwards and backward at the same time, and sometimes you need to move backwards in order go forward.

Remember, if something isn’t there within you to begin with, you wouldn’t be facing it. So you need to deal with it according to your abilities so you can heal it.

Healing can take a long time. There is no time limit to how long it may take. Some feel embarrassed about having the same issues come up over and over again. They may feel like a broken record, but that’s just how it goes. Eventually, if you keep at it, you will heal and get past those things that hold you back.

The problem is that most people get discouraged and give up. They forget how much progress they actually made.

This is the worst thing you can do, though. Giving up will never get you to where you desire to be.

Yes, it can be painful, and yes, you may feel like you’ll never get there, but this I promise you. Keep at it, and you will succeed. Things will shift around for you to make it happen.

Life is a process of creation. You are the creator. Trust in the flow and know that you can’t help but get there in the end, no matter how bad things seem right now.

weary by Quinn DombrowskiBeing an Empath is a difficult thing.

It’s tiring. Sometimes you feel like you’re on the same path you were when you first began your journey: Retreading the same old grounds.

Sometimes it seems that no matter how much you do, no matter how much you try and no matter how much you strive to make a difference, it’s all futile.

Being an Empath can be challenging, exhausting and depressing.

We, as Empaths, have a tendency to take on the negative and overlook the positive.

Yes, we do get joy from the good we see and receive, but it’s short lived. It only takes one negative comment to pull us back down again.

Being an Empath is a path that can be both draining and wearying.

There are always others who try and tear you down and invalidate you. There are always those who seem to dismiss all the progress you’ve made, all the work you have done and all the sacrifices you make.

I know it’s hard. I know many are tired. I know they wish they were anywhere but here.

Even I wonder if it’s worth it at times. But I can’t give up. That is not an option. Even when the darkness is at its greatest, I will push on through because it’s all  I can do.

I owe it to myself.

And you owe it to yourselves.

Empaths, remember you are not alone. You may feel like you are, but I promise you, you are not.

I know you are weary, but our time is coming.

EmpathOne of the most common things I see, when people e-mail me for advice is: Am I really an Empath?

5/06/2017

Empath MEMEYou may think you’re crazy or just oversensitive, but you might be really an Empath.

Often referred to as HSP or Highly Sensitive People, the Empath will pick up on the feelings and emotions of others around them as though it were their own feelings.

They are not the stuff of science fiction and they are way more common than you think.

You may be one… and not even know it.

Knowing you are an Empath can change your life.

There are many signs that you are empath and here are just a few. As I remember them or note new ones,

This is an ever expanding post. I will continue to add them to this list.

  1. You care too much about other people, even to your own detriment.
  2. Strangers will tell you their life story and say: I don’t know why I am telling you, but I feel I can. They also tend to offload their problems onto you and you may be too polite to tell them to stop.
  3. You will feel lonely, even when around others. The sense of loneliness of being an Empath doesn’t come from being alone, it comes from not being able to talk to others about what you are feeling and feeling there are no answers to your questions.
  4. You may suffer from attention deficit disorder. (ADD) You may easily get drawn into feelings and emotions that come up seemingly randomly. Next thing you know, you are somewhere else and you’ve lost track of what was going on.
  5. If you are naturally psychic, being an Empath will give you additional information about places, people and events.
  6. When someone else has a bad day, you have a bad day in sympathy.
  7. You take on guilt very easily, even for things that you did not do.
  8. You will do anything to keep the peace. Any tension will make you feel very stressed and you can’t relax until everyone else is happy.
  9. Even if you enjoy a particular activity, you won’t enjoy it if the people around you are not into it. You would rather do it on your own or something else.
  10. You can’t bear to see other people or animals in suffering or in pain.
  11. You can always tell when someone is lying. You are a human lie detector.
  12. You find it very difficult to say ‘no’ when someone asks you for help. Many Empaths get treated like a doormat. They don’t want to upset others or make them feel bad by refusing help
  13. You like giving surprise gifts and making others happy just for the sake of it. If they feel good, you feel good, even if it’s just for that moment.
  14. You suffer from anxiety for no apparent reason. Sometimes the feelings will be overwhelming, especially when something major is going on in the world. Stock market crashes are often a bad time for Empaths.
  15. You suffer from clinical depression and mood swings and have no idea why.
  16. You often feel overwhelmed by events and emotions, sometimes to the point where you short out and stop feeling anything at all.
  17. Holidays, such as Christmas, are a very bad time for you. You often feel sad and lonely.
  18. You will always give the benefit of the doubt to someone, just in case they really didn’t mean to say or do something you consider hurtful or negative.
  19. You may suffer from seasonal depression. Autumn might make you feel especially depressed.
  20. You might find you are very psychic, picking up on people and events before they even happen.
  21. You suffer from social anxiety and find it hard to be around people, especially if you feel you shouldn’t be there. Parties are hard and tedious and nightclubs are like a living hell for you.
  22. You want to save the world, but feel too depressed and despondent to do it.
  23. If you hear of someone who is having a hard time, or is unlucky in life or love, you want to just save them and make them happy.
  24. You cry when watching romantic movies, even if they are really bad ones, and you feel embarrassed about doing so.
  25. Old songs make you sad. You long for those past times, even if they were horrible at the time.
  26. You just know things. Even things that no one has never told you. You don’t know how you know them, but you just do.
  27. You don’t know where your feelings end and others begins. You may not even be aware that they are not your feelings.
  28. If someone tells you about their pain or sickness, you will sympathy pains.
  29. You feel constantly exhausted. Chronic fatigue is a reoccurring problem for you.
  30. You are drawn to new age things, especially alternative medicines.
  31. You are extremely creative, though you may feel embarrassed about sharing that part of you in case others reject it or make fun of it.
  32. You may well feel at one with nature. Cities are very hard to live in due to all the psychic pollution that is about.
  33. You are always seeking knowledge. You may not even know what you are looking for, but you look for it anyway.
  34. You daydream a lot. Go on adventures in your mind. This can happen anywhere and anytime.
  35. You can sense the energy of food. You can tell if it feels healthy or not. You are also drawn to bad foods that make you feel good, such as chocolate or sugary treats.
  36. People may consider you strange, aloof or indifferent.
  37. You may have difficulty urinating in public, especially if you feel under pressure. If someone is waiting, you will give up and try to find a place that isn’t being used.
  38. You attract sociopaths and narcissists into your life that will use and abuse you. They will convince you that you are the one who is wrong.

When people find out they are an empath, they ask: How do I know I am one? Generally, only an Empath will ask that type of question. Non Empaths do not care.

If you find yourself nodding along to the above traits, then yes, you are certainly and Empath. The good news is there is so much you can do about it. You can turn what so many call a curse into a blessing.

Help and resources are at hand and they need not cost you a cent.

I am the phoenix book cover

Awakening is hard. When we are born, we forget most of what we know. The process of remembering is a very long, traumatic and difficult process.

I am The Phoenix is the story of my own personal awakening. It tells the story of how it happened and the incredible events surrounding it.

It gives a timeline of events up to the year 2012.

It started as a seemingly simply journey. When I was 24 years old, the message "You are the Phoenix" kept on repeating over and over in my mind. It never stopped. It never varied. It was something I could not block or prevent.

Over the years, I began to unravel who I was and what was really going on.

It became a complex and layered story that involved the old gods and my personal dealing with them.

As this is an ever evolving story, free supplementary material has been provided that expands on what I knew and what was written in this book. If you purchase this book from amazon.com and want access to it, please contact me at gary@empathsupport.com

My guides once said: There would be hell to pay when I found out what was really going on.

I’m discovering what was really going on. And there is hell to pay.
